Full STEAM Ahead and Concert Schedule

In honor of The Suitcase Junket, our 8th Annual Full STEAM Ahead will feature musical activities.

  • 10am-12pm: Full STEAM Ahead Activities: make and take or experiment with sound during this family fun event.
    • Tattoos

    • 2 Kinds of Kazoos
    • Tamborines
    • Wind Chimes
    • Pinwheels
    • Pony Beads
    • Castanets
    • Drumkit
    • and more!
  • Special Guests: Mr. D and the Pipestone Area Schools Arrowbots. Come check out the robot and see the culmination of tinkering and hard work from the Robotics Team.
  • 12pm: Free lunch while supplies last. Many thanks to our generous community donors for providing a meal for our community event.

January Meinders Happenings

  • Winter Reading Program – January 1st-March 31st, sign up at the desk to read books and win prizes!
  • Weekly Storytime – Wednesdays at 10:30am
  • Games & Grub – Thursday, January 9th from 5:30-7:00pm, sign up to attend by calling 507-825-6714 or using the form below
  • Stuffie Sleepover – Kids can drop their stuffies off at the library on Friday, January 10th and come back to the library on Saturday, January 11th to pick up their friends and do a craft.
  • Family Storytime – Saturday, January 11th at 9:30am
  • Escape Room at Teen Cafe – Saturday, January 11th from 7:00-8:30pm

Come Support the PAS Marching Band!

The Arrow Marching Band will be traveling to Portland, Oregon to perform in the Rose Festival Parade! Join us at the library for a Watch Party & Potluck on Saturday, June 8th, from 11:30am-2pm. Please bring a dish to share and come watch the parade live stream with fellow marching Arrow fans!

Good luck and safe travels to the bus drivers, Dr. Ploeger & his students, and the accompanying adults as they make their way west! Make Pipestone proud!

Two Trails with Karen Ziebarth

On Monday, October 17th at 7:00 pm, join us for an author program with Pipestone native, Karen Ziebarth, at Meinders Community Library. Two Trails: A Hiker’s Story of Survival and His Mother’s Story of Hope chronicles both her experience with the search and rescue mission when her son goes missing in the San Bernardino Mountains and his harrowing journey home.

Still like rabbit ears and radio programs? Our programming flyers can be found on the public access channel, and many of our programs are videotaped and shown at a later date. Likewise, we will try to up our game for our auditory patrons by utilizing the radio station to help you #GetConnectedAtMeinders.

The Pipestone Area Robotics Team #3298, aka the ArrowBots, are battling their way to the top in Minneapolis this Friday and Saturday. To watch the qualifying rounds, simply follow the link below. These matches are streamed live and are super fun to watch!

If you have time between watching #3298 and our upcoming World War II program on Monday night, stop by the school to cheer for the Pipestone Area Speech team during their sub-section meet on Saturday. The first round starts at 10am, with the second round at 11:30 and finals expected to begin at 1:30.

At this point you may asking yourself: what does speech have to do with STEAM? To which I say, communication is an art. Performing is an art. So is writing. For months, these youth (and their un-pictured teammates) have worked hard to mold the written word into something compelling, informative, and artistic.

In short, speech is the basis for understanding an idea and providing a path for others to follow. Without communication, there is no STEAM. And without steam, there is no programming. Lucky for you, we have lots STEAMy activities headed your way.
