Siama’s Congo Roots and Storytime Guests

Siama’s Congo Roots

Join us next Thursday, July 21st at 10:00am for a lively Congolese music program with Siama Matuzungidi and Dallas Johnson at Meinders Community Library. Siama is known for his intricate guitar, catchy songs, spirited singing and traditional     instruments like Balafon and Mbira. We’ll all have a chance to learn simple songs in Kikongo and Lingala and try out African singing styles like call-and-response and yodeling in this interactive program. Siama’s Congo Roots is great for all ages and this program is free for everyone. Check out this video for a sneak preview!

We will also have some special guests at Storytime next week on Tuesday, July 19th. Dairy Princesses Josie Sutherland and Katelyn Welgraven will join us to for a cow and dairy themed storytime and then we will shake our own ice cream!

After Siama’s Congo Roots on Thursday, the Meinders Community Library will close for our annual cleaning and maintenance. We will close at 12:00pm on Thursday July 21st and will reopen on Monday July 25th at 10:00am.
