Congrats, Pipestone Area Friends of the Library, for being an Evy Nordley Award Finalist (again!)

Even on the best of days, the library cannot function without help. Our silent, yet very supportive, Friends of the Library is responsible for providing refreshments at events, bringing in speakers, volunteering time, and supporting us financially.

On May 20, 2017, PAFL took a leap of faith, rallied the troops, and spent their time, talents, and treasures on our first ever Full STEAM Ahead event.

Besides paving the way for our $25,000 State Farm Neighborhood Assist Grant and our STEAM Room, this hands-on day of tinkering was selected as a top three finalist for the Evy Nordley Award by the Minnesota Association of Library Friends. Other finalists include Friends of the Brainerd Public Library (“CLUE Event”) and Friends of the Buffalo Library (“Reading Space Project”).

On October 11, Meinders Library will present on the journey from Full STEAM’s inception to its completion, and will share the continued community impact of this unique four hour program.

In 2016, Pipestone Area Friends of the Library received first place and $1,000 for the Meinders Library event, “Night at the Museum.” It is an honor to have our joint endeavor selected again as a finalist for the Evy Nordley Award and a cash prize. (3rd place: $250, 2nd place: $500, and 1st place: $1,000)

If you see a Friend, please let them know you appreciate their commitment to the Pipestone Community. If you have time, talents, or even the teeniest of treasures, please consider joining this amazing group.

Thanks, PAFL, and congratulations for having your hard work recognized on a state level.
