One year ago, we had the great idea to re-purpose our back room as a maker space where patrons could come to tinker. During our first ever Full STEAM Ahead event, our STEAM Room looked something like this:
Full STEAM Ahead was a hit. People of all ages loved trying new things such as spinning yarn, using the cricut machine, coding our ozobots and stamping cards in the STEAM Room.
In fact, it ignited a community movement and this happened:
Thanks to the wonderful support of countless people across the nation, Meinders Community Library won a $25,000 grant to expand our STEAM Room and our offerings to include more technology and more tinkering.
So, we got busy. We painted, we ordered storage furniture, we put together robots, and we organized, transforming our old work space into a functional maker space.
We invite you to join us at the library on Saturday, May 19 from 10am-2pm for our second annual Full STEAM Ahead. You will have the opportunity to drop by for the day or a few hours and enjoy over 30 different tinkering stations that hit all areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math.
If not, you may forever be stuck with this image in your head–our disorganized maker space mess that’s stuck halfway between a good idea and the realization of that dream.
Come tinker in our super organized STEAM Room and see for yourself what a community can do in such a short time.
