Community Read Continues with Want to Go Private?

For parents, guardians, caregivers or educators who read The Girl Before by Rena Olsen, we are continuing the dialogue about the affects of sexual predation at Meinders Library with a book discussion on Sarah Darer Littman’s Want to Go Private?.

Want to Go Private?

Difficult to read, but always timely, this novel addresses the vulnerability of today’s youth in an age of social media, mixed emotions and feelings of acceptance and self-worth. While the protagonist is a teenage girl, this book has implications for the boys who love them, as well as parents, teachers, and other vulnerable populations such as the elderly.

For other books on human rights, domestic abuse, the sex trade or human trafficking, please ask a librarian. For those who wish to learn more about how to keep yourself and your loved ones safe, check out How to Save Your Daughter’s Life by Pat Brown.

Both books can be found at Meinders Library.

Due to the graphic nature of some parts of this book, please plan to read alongside your teen child or prescreen it for younger youth.
