Epic Fun at Meinders with Author/Illustrator Derek Anderson

This morning Derek wowed his audience of 154 with his wit, charm and talents. His interactive program included some acting, illustrating, dancing and a small bit of self-deprecating humor when he showed off his kindergarten picture to Pipestone youth. He also shared the drawing that started him on his career path: a crayon picture of the Easter Bunny. Our children’s librarian, Emily Blaeser, joined in the fun.

From toddlers to fifth graders and the adults kind enough to bring them, participants watched in awe as this New York Times Bestselling Author brought to life a character from his picture book, Ten Pigs: an epic bath adventure.

Derek’s fun twist on the age old story of the three little pigs was chosen as Minnesota’s 2016 Once Upon a Reader. Derek will finish out his tour with a presentation at the Rock County Library in Luverne at 4:00pm today.

This program was funded with money from Minnesota’s Arts & Cultural Heritage Fund.
