- Branding: we ordered our promotional items from Pipestone Publishing!!!
- We Are Water MN:
- Erica from the Chamber, Deb from PAFL, and Jody attended the training in Onamia on September 22-24.
- The next step will be pulling together partners to start planning events.
- Funding:
- Dena Berghorst from Edgerton sent an email stating the county has allotted roughly $7,000 more for library services in their proposed budget. If this is passed, the increased funding would be divided using the current formula and Meinders would receive roughly $4,000 more for 2020.
- If we receive an increase in funding, I believe it should be spent on programming and collection curation based on our water theme for 2020.
- Trainings:
- We Are Water MN: this training focused on collecting hidden/absent voices within our community, as well as building community partnerships.
- MLA: our presentation went well. We had 50 individuals in our hands-on session. In addition, Emily will be writing a summary of the sessions she attended that will include how she will use information learned to strengthen our library and youth services.
- Projects:
- What is Dyslexia: this two hour forum will tackle the questions parents and educators have regarding dyslexia while allowing questions of people who are directly impacted by dyslexia. This will be a valuable experience for many in our community.
- Moving Words Author Panel: PAFL will provide refreshments for this October 28 event. All are asked to promote this event, as the caliber and diversity of authors will be amazing.
- Community Read: The Witness Tree will be available beginning October 1. Author Amy Pendino will speak on November 16 @ 2:00pm.
- The Public Movie Viewing: this movie showcases the trials of homelessness and the role libraries play in providing for marginalized people. We will hold a movie viewing on November 8 with a discussion to follow. Board promotion/attendance is requested.
- Policy Review: the following policies are set for review/approval at the October board meeting: 203, 204, 302, 500, and 502.
