Escape to St. Cloud

If you stop in the library today or tomorrow, you might notice that Emily and I are not at our posts. Never fear, our escape from the library is still all about the library, as we will be attending the Minnesota Library Association Annual Conference in St. Cloud.

While there, we will be learning more about library science, programming, and management, as well as collaborating with other librarians throughout the state. Further, we will be presenting for the Pipestone Area Friends of the Library for our Full STEAM Ahead event which is up for the Evy Nordely Award.

As it stands, Full STEAM Ahead is a top three finalist for this award which is presented by the Minnesota Association of Library Friends. Two years ago, we won first place and $1,000 for our Night at the Museum. Depending on what place we win this year, we could receive $250 for third place, $500 for second, or $1,000 for first place.

Regardless of how we do, creating great programs is always at the forefront of our minds.

In addition, I will co-present with another librarian from out-state Minnesota on community engagement. It is truly an honor that our library has been chosen as an example across the state as one that works with and for its community. This is a testament to Pipestone and the individuals who support the library in myriad ways including, but not limited to: checking out materials, reading the newspaper, using our computers, printing or faxing papers, attending programs, playing in our children’s area, using our conference room and our STEAM Room, donating materials or services, volunteering, or sharing all we have to offer with family and friends who may wish to utilize any of the above.

Your support is greatly appreciated.
