Meinders Library

March 5, 2019 Board Minutes

Meeting was called to order at 5:15 pm by Kyle Caskey. Board Members present were Kyle Caskey, Evan Schiller, Pat Weeks, Sharon Wolff, Justin Schroyer, Jody Wacker, Amy Nelson, and Monica Sullivan.

There were no community concerns to report. Minutes from the February board meeting were read. Motion to approve minutes as presented from Evan, seconded by Justin.

There is not a current financial report due to snow and other factors.

The director’s report focused on past events and upcoming events. Jody provided updated statistics for the month. Due to the continuous winter we have been unable to gather sample week data as of yet.

Jody provided us an update on progress toward the strategic plan for 2019. We recently did a purge of all patrons and our current patron count is more accurate and up-to-date. We have met 13% of our initial check out goal and are making progress updating material offerings. Online visibility is also making progress toward the goal.

Follow up on brand creation. John Draper provided new versions of the logos and Jody and staff did some mock ups of products (Meinders Happenings, book marks, flyers, letter head) with the logo used. We discussed the development thus far. We like the colors, dislike the Lucinda font for “Get Connected”.  We will ask John to make the suggested tweaks (several different fonts for “Get Connected”), and Jody will circulate John’s changes for discussion via email when they are completed. Once the logo is finalized, name tags will be made.

New Business included discussing that upcoming meetings take place the first Tuesday of the month. Monica motioned to make that change, Evan seconded. Jody shared that Michelle Cheeseman is running a Quotes for Good program through her local office. Anyone who is not a current State Farm customer can get a quote and her office with donate $10 toward Pipestone Area Friends of the Library.

Announcements: Evan shared that Plum Creek Library System’s Executive Director Jim Trojanowski has taken a new job in Detroit Lakes. They will be beginning their search for a replacement.

Next meeting will be Tuesday, April 2 at 5:15 pm. Meeting adjourned at 5:58 pm.
