Some Sad News and a Little Holiday Cheer

This week has been a difficult one for Meinders Community Library staff. Sally lost her mom in a battle with COVID. Nancy will be greatly missed by all who knew–and loved–her feisty, mischevious nature. For being as quiet as she is, I think Sally will continue her mom’s legacy of wit and charm in a way that will make Nancy proud. Cards or notes for Sally and her family can be dropped off at the library or taken to Hartquist for the service on Thursday.

Due to the funeral, the library will close at 1pm on Thursday and will remain closed through the holiday weekend. We will reopen on Monday, December 27, for regular library hours, closing on Saturday, January 1, for the New Year.

Please remember to pick up your Holiday Take and Makes by Wednesday 5pm. Any unclaimed trays will go to families on our waiting list.

For those partaking in our edible treat trays, we would love to see pics of your Holiday masterpieces! We have a gift card prize for the Staff Choice Award, so create and submit your photos before nibbling away.

Check back Thursday morning for a quick, but fun, family friendly program Meinders Library is hosting between Christmas and New Years to keep you and your loved ones engaged.

Also, we have games and puzzles you can check out for quality family time, as well as magazines to fill those quiet moments. And don’t forget our digital platforms and Scholastic databases to keep your whole family watching, reading, and learning.

One final note. In deference to the lives lost, the health impacts on survivors, and the loved ones spending the holidays with an empty place at the table due to COVID, Meinders Library Staff will continue to mask up in the library and request that you do the same.
