Our Stick Together project is one of my favorite things from Full STEAM Ahead. This giant poster is slowly being filled with tiny, colored stickers to create a collaborative work of art for our walls.
Watching our patrons come together in a shared goal regardless of age or interest has been rewarding as we strive to make the library a community hub. Studies at both Brigham Young University and Harvard echo an emerging picture that those who engage in common experiences are happier and more satisfied with their lives. This is backed up by a Yale study which shows that even sharing experiences with a complete stranger will amplify our positive reactions.
If we hope to create a brighter future, we clearly need to do it together. So, get involved. Find a friend, or make a new one, and join in all the wonderful things your community has to offer. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain by getting connected with those around you.
As we wrap up the week, we wish our graduates a wonderful weekend and a bright future. Find your passion and pursue it, because no matter where you go or what you do, the future is yours. Surround yourself with a variety of people, share grand adventures, and stick together!
